Hello, hello, welcome to my bookstore!

I'm Britt, the face behind Fiction & Friction - Indie Bookseller - formally Off the Book Pages. I'm a queer mum with multiple chronic pain diseases. I'm an avid indie reader and a romance bookstore owner.

Fiction & Friction started off as a handmade bookish merch hobby that evolved into the online bookstore on August 31st 2020 after months of planning and consulting with some of the amazing authors featured in this store. Now, Fiction & Friction has outgrown all expectations. We have just moved into our fourth space and hopefully our home for the foreseeable future.

I have been apart of the Indie Book Community since 2014, once I started reading Indie Books that was it for me. I'd found my passion. I have attended amazing indie driven book signing events here in Australia and met so many incredible authors and like minded readers.

I noticed that there was a huge gap in the market when I couldn't find the books I wanted to buy! You could get them on Amazon, but there was no care in their packaging, it took ages to arrive and most books arrived damaged. You could sometimes get them directly form authors but lots of authors don't do this or only do it when they have signings because it can be a huge job and they are busy writing those incredible books we devour. And so i wondered, could I do this myself? Could I do something that hadn't been done yet? Could it be a success?

I took the plunge, I spoke to authors and I got such an epic response from authors and readers, that here we are a year later and this little business is not so little anymore. I now stock over 700 books, by more than 100 indie authors and I am growing in leaps and bounds every single month.

I'm so proud to be able to say that I opened the very first bookstore of it's kind and this will forever be one of my greatest achievements. I hope you love my store as much as I do.
